The Foundation awards grants to nonprofits that strive to reduce poverty, and Help is one of 93 organizations funded this spring. In this cycle of funding, the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina awarded grants totaling $1,287,000 to nonprofit organizations across the state. The grant will allow the organization to continue it’s vital role in the community. “Our grantee partners are having a profound impact across South Carolina, supporting individuals and families who are experiencing poverty and working to dismantle the complex systems that allow poverty to persist,” said Donna Waites, President of the Foundation. “Each one of them approaches their work with compassion and an open heart, whether they’re advocating for policy change; offering innovative, evidence-based programs; or listening and responding to immediate community needs.” Lee Pearson, Chair of the Foundation’s Board, added: “The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina is committed to reducing poverty through action, advocacy, and leadership. It is an honor to support, partner with, and learn from these organizations as we work to create a South Carolina where everyone can thrive. Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity Health System, founded in 1996. Its mission is to address the needs of families and individuals experiencing poverty throughout the state of South Carolina. Through the strategic use of resources, they seek to reduce poverty through action, advocacy, and leadership.

Tea Room 3-2025. Representatives from HELP of Summerville take part in St. Paul’s Tea Room. St. Paul’s was home to HELP for over 45 years and have continued to support us.

Donation from the Calendar Raffle Before receiving a donation to Help of Summerville, Ms. Gray Thomas board chair, spoke about their organization helps those families who are struggling. She said that in order to meet daily expenses, a family of four needs $80K a year. Help of Summerville help with the lost of living items such as utility, rent support, etc. She said they also worked closely with St. Vincent de Paul in order to pool their resources.
